Our client is a mining group who has been running a pilot project in Angola for some time, and is now ready to go into full production. They also intend to expand into other projects in future.

The Financial Director will be responsible for handling from start-up phase right through to production. The posiiotn reports to the MD of the mine, and is based in Luanda but requires extensive travel to the mine site, which is remote. The FD will, besides managing the finances of the mine site and the offices, will be involved in doing due diligence on business prospects etc and will have the opportunity to not only be the Financial Director of 1 mine, but to be involved with other projects as well.

Requirements:
• Fluent Portuguese and English communication skills are essential
• Definite management capabilities
• Experience with annual budgets and the preparation of annual financial statements, and must be able to manage financial controls and put systems and reporting structures in place.
• Able to work in a culturally sensitive environment
• BComm or BAcc (not negotiable); a CA would be preferred
• Candidates must have worked in Africa and must have mining experience or something similar such as heavy engineering

Other:
• The company is flexible regarding the contract period but would prefer it to either be a permanent contract or a contract of 5 years, and will not accept less than 3 years.
• Monthly package of around US $ 15 000 – 20 000 excluding bonuses, negotiable. Medical and pension is also provided.
• The preferred rotation would be 3 months on, 3 weeks off; family status is not really an option.
• Need to be able to cope with a very remote environment.
